Creating a Schedule
A schedule plays chosen content on a screen between a specific start and a specific end — automatically. For example, a promotion that runs from Monday 08:00 to Monday 12:00, without anyone switching it on or off.
How schedules work
A schedule contains one or more items. Each item defines:
- Which content or playlist to play
- When it starts — a date and a time
- When it ends — a date and a time
Each item is a single window on the calendar with a real start and end date. Items are not recurring daily slots: an item that runs Monday 08:00–12:00 runs on that Monday only. To repeat a pattern across several days, add one item per day.
You then send the schedule to the screens that should follow it.
Creating a schedule
- Click Schedules in the left menu.
- Click Create Schedule.
- Enter a Name (e.g. "Weekday Lobby").
- Click Save Schedule — you are taken to the schedule editor.
A schedule becomes active as soon as it is saved and sent to a screen. There is no separate publish step to remember, so build the whole week before you send it to screens rather than after.
Adding items
The editor shows a Week Calendar. Use the arrows to move between weeks.
- Click a time slot on the calendar, or click Add Content.
- Choose one content item or playlist.
- Set Start Date and Start, then End Date and End.
- Click Add to Schedule.
Repeat for each window you need. For example, for one Monday:
| Window | Plays |
|---|---|
| Mon 08:00 – 12:00 | Morning Menu |
| Mon 12:00 – 17:00 | Lunch Offers |
| Mon 17:00 – 22:00 | Evening Specials |
You can drag an item on the calendar to move it, or drag its edge to resize it.
Items in one schedule cannot overlap. If you try to save overlapping windows the editor refuses and asks you to fix the ranges. Windows that touch exactly — one ending at 12:00 and the next starting at 12:00 — are fine and hand over cleanly.
Sending the schedule to screens
- In the schedule editor, click Set to Screens.
- Filter by client and channel if it helps, then select the screens that should follow this schedule.
- Confirm.
Screens are selected individually. There is no way to target a group by tag — tags help you find screens, but they do not subscribe a screen to a schedule. A screen added later will not pick up an existing schedule on its own; send the schedule to it explicitly.
What happens when a window ends
The screen goes idle. It shows the idle screen, which names the device and tells whoever is standing in front of it to assign content from the dashboard.
This is worth reading twice, because it is the part people get wrong: content that was playing before the schedule started does not come back. When a scheduled window opens it takes over the screen for good. When it closes, the screen has nothing to play and says so.
So if a screen should never sit idle, do not rely on a standing assignment to fill the gaps. Cover the whole period you care about with schedule items, leaving no time uncovered.
A screen with a template behaves the same way — it shows the idle screen too. A configured queue board is not a reason to keep a screen lit with nothing playing.
Publishing something during a scheduled window
If you send content or a playlist directly to a screen while one of its scheduled windows is open, the direct content takes over immediately and the device page shows Direct content is overriding the schedule.
From there:
- The direct content keeps playing past the end of the window it interrupted.
- The next scheduled window still starts on time and takes over on its own. The override does not cancel your schedule; it only wins against the window it interrupted.
- Click Resume schedule to hand the screen straight back to the current window without waiting.
Editing or archiving a schedule
- To edit: open the schedule from the list and change any item. Changes reach screens within seconds.
- To archive: click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the schedule → Archive. The schedule stops being active on the screens that were following it. If one of its windows was playing at that moment, those screens go idle.
Archived schedules stay in the list behind the Archived status filter.
Tips
- Cover the full trading day with items if the screen should never go idle. Gaps between windows are idle time, not fallback time.
- Give each screen its own schedule when their hours differ. One schedule cannot run different windows on different screens.
- Check the Total Scheduled Time in the editor's Information panel against the hours you meant to cover — it is the quickest way to spot a gap.
Connecting a Screen
Before a screen can display your content, you need to pair it with the dashboard. This is a one-time setup per screen.
Assigning Content to a Screen
You can send a single piece of content, a full playlist, or a schedule to any screen. This page explains all three, and what happens when they meet.
