Installing the Player
LG WebOS Player
LG commercial displays run WebOS and use a dedicated player app.
Compatible displays
The LG WebOS player works with LG commercial display series including:
- UM, UH, SM, SH, QM series
- Any display labelled "LG Commercial Display" or "LG SuperSign"
It does not work on LG consumer TVs.
What you need
- The LG display powered on
- The display connected to the internet
- The
.ipkplayer package file (provided by your administrator) - A USB stick
Installing the player
Step 1 — Copy the file to a USB stick
- Get the player file (it ends in
.ipk) from your administrator. - Copy it to the root folder of a USB stick (not inside any folder).
Step 2 — Insert the USB stick and install
- Insert the USB stick into the USB port on the LG display.
- Press the Settings button on the remote (gear icon ⚙).
- Go to Ez Setting → SI Server Setting → Local Application Upgrade.
- Select the
.ipkfile from the USB. - Follow the on-screen prompts to install.
Alternatively, on newer displays:
- Press Home on the remote.
- Go to App → Install from USB and select the file.
Step 3 — Launch the player
- Press Home on the remote.
- Open the installed Digital Signage app.
- The pairing code appears on screen.
Follow the Connecting a Screen guide to register the display in the dashboard.
Setting the app to launch on startup
- Press the Settings button on the remote.
- Go to General → Power → Power On Status → set to PWR (Power On).
- Go to Ez Setting → Auto Launch → select the Digital Signage app.
The player will start automatically every time the display powers on.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| File not found on USB | Make sure the file is in the root of the USB stick |
| Installation fails | Check the display firmware is up to date via Settings → General → About This TV |
| No internet connection | Check Settings → Network → Wired/Wireless Connection |
| Display shows screensaver instead of content | Set Settings → General → No Signal Image to Off |
